WAV File Internals

The simplest format for storing audio on a computer is in a WAV file with the .wav extension. It is also one of the oldest file formats for storing audio, having been developed in 1991. The file contains two parts: the data and the metadata. The data includes the raw samples from the microphone. The metadata includes several important pieces of information that describe the data itself.
