Creating Spectrograms

In order to create a spectrogram, we must take the DFT of overlapping segments of the audio. Then we combine the segments by adding them or averaging them in some fashion. However, this technique has a major issue: spectral leakage. Spectral leakage will cause the spectrogram to look "smoothed over" and not accurately represent the audio.
